Konqueror File Manager
Konqueror is a web browser and file manager. It allows viewing of documents and images. Start Konqueror by clicking on the “house” icon in the panel or by pressing the Alt + F2 keys and entering the $ HOME conqueror. The contents of your home directory are displayed.
The file manager window consists of the menu bar at the top of the screen, the toolbar and the location bar. The bottom of the screen is split vertically into the display panel and the main window that displays the content.
The Konqueror menu:
1. Location. The location opens additional Konqueror windows. If you click on NewWindow your home directory is displayed in a new window. Duplicate Window produces a window with the same content.
2. Edit. The Edit options become active if you select an object in the main window. In addition to standard editing, cut, copy, paste, rename, move and delete functions, there is also the Create New feature that can be used to create directories, files, and devices.
3. View. The View menu changes the view mode. If a directory contains multiple files, then a text or tree view may be more effective. For pages in HTML format, use Use index.html. If a directory contains a file with this name, Konqueror uploads it and displays it.
4. Go. The Go menu contains the Up, Back, Forward, and Home Page navigation features. However, the same functions can be accessed faster and more conveniently from the toolbar, toolbar.
5. Bookmarks. Bookmarks are used to keep Internet addresses (URLs) and paths to files or folders in the system. For practical reasons bookmarks are arranged in folders.
6. Tools. This menu includes a variety of functions such as Run Command, Open Terminal Window and Find Files.
7. Settings. The Settings menu is used to configure the look of the Konqueror application. The Toolbars sub-menu allows you to hide or display its elements.
8. Window. The Window menu allows you to split the main window horizontally or vertically.
9. Help. The Help menu calls the Konqueror manual or What’s This. Normally, the function can be accessed with the “?” from the title bar. The prompt is displayed as a question mark. If you click on an icon, a short help text is displayed if it is available.
Toolbar:
The toolbar provides quick access to frequently used functions that can also be accessed from the menu.
Location bar:
The location bar is preceded by a black symbol with a white X. Clicking this icon deletes the content of the line, allowing you to enter a new location. A location may be specifying a path like the one that appears when displaying the home directory or address of a web page. Once the address has been entered, press Enter or click Go on the right of the line.
Main window:
The main window displays the contents of the selected folder. If you click on an icon, that file is displayed in Konqueror or uploaded to the corresponding application for subsequent reprocessing.
If a right click on an icon opens a menu. It depends on the file type and offers actions such as Cut, Copy, Paste, and Delete. Use Open with to select from the list of programs the application with which to open the file.
The fastest way to perform different actions is drag and drop, for example, moving files from one Konqueror window to another by dragging them while holding down the left mouse button. You will be asked if these objects need to be moved or copied.
