Ubuntu 18 versus Windows 10

Ubuntu is a Linux-based operating system for personal computers, servers and netbooks. Ubuntu is fast, looks good, is free to use, and will always stay that way.
It contains pre-installed all the applications you need on daily use: an Internet browser, office suite, media applications, instant messaging, and more. Ubuntu is a free alternative to Windows and Office solutions.

Benefits:
1. It’s free – this is primarily the main reason. Since this operating system is open-source, companies can use it without being required to purchase licenses for each computer.
2. Although not offering such a large variety as Windows, there are around 90% of normal applications (for movies, media, etc.). In addition, most of these applications are free of charge.
3. It doesn’t consume a lot of resources to run the operating system, meaning it can be installed on any type of PC, even older ones.
4. There is a wide range of Linux distributions for each user. For example, Kali is used for hacking, Ubuntu for personal use, etc. There are also special enterprise or server versions to be installed on servers, depending on the final usage of the server.
5. No viruses.
Although it seems hard to believe, there are hardly any viruses for Linux. Thus, the use of antivirus software is recommended but not mandatory. The same can not be said about Windows.
6.Drivers – Although it appears that drivers are hard to find and install on Ubuntu, things are not quite what they look. When installing Linux on a normal laptop, you will be surprised to find that all the drivers come with the operating system image.
7. Ubuntu does not need significant resources to operate at the optimum capacity, meaning most resources can be used to run the apps needed.
8. Ubuntu distributions provide a window-based interface and a pretty attractive design. Thus, it can also be used by less experienced users.

Disadvantages:
1.Ubuntu automatically detects and installs drivers, but if you need to install a driver manually then things can get complicated. For example, sometimes it happens that for a particular laptop model we can’t find a driver for the network card. this means that nobody took the time to develop or adapt a driver for that particular model. So it is better to stick with more popular versions in the hopes of getting drivers for them.
2. Less variety for gaming on Linux. Windows a larger userbase and more users willing to pay than the Linux users that are mostly professional users.
3. Some tasks can’t be done without a terminal window, meaning that Ubuntu has a steep learning curve in case of a more difficult operation, a thing that can only be done by experienced users.

Windows
Benefits:
1.The interface is an important asset to Windows. Being an optimized system for easy administration, Windows remains the most used operating system.
2. It offers a wide range of software, both free and paid. Thus, you can find a specific program for each need individually.
3. Gamers can enjoy a wide range of complex, well-known games and with good graphics. This is due to companies that create games only on Windows because of financial reasons.
4. Drivers are much easier to find and install on Windows when compared to Linux. Hardware producers usually put Windows drivers on a higher scale of importance when creating software for their products.
5. Installing Windows is a straightforward process without the need for prior knowledge in this area.

Disadvantages:
1. It is not free.
2. It is difficult to run on computers with weaker specifications and consumes more resources than Ubuntu.
3. Some viruses cannot be detected by antivirus or firewall software.
4. There are many Windows applications, more than on Ubuntu, but most of them need a payment to be used.
